Samsung has put out a distinctly unafraid-looking statement declaring that a “Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the Australian market will be released in the near future,” despite Apple’s attempt to halt sales through the Aussie Federal Court. It explains that Apple’s underlying patent complaints only relate to the US variant of the tablet, which Samsung had no plans to sell Down Under anyway. In a particularly emboldened finale, the missive adds that “Samsung will continue to actively defend and protect our intellectual property.” That’s the croc-fighting spirit.

SaskTel was one of the lucky Canadian carriers who recently launched the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S II, the others were Bell and Virgin Mobile. As for prices, the Bell and Virgin no-contract came in better by $20 as SaskTel was on the high side with $619.99. However, if you dwindled down to the 3-year term it was regional carrier SakTel that simply dominated with a short promo price of $79.99 (Bell/Virgin has is for $169.99)… simply a stellar price point for this device. Now the party is over and price has unfortunately increased – but the good news is that it still comes in cheaper than their competitors at $149.99.

Some of the figures in the chart are fairly predictable, such as the increase revenue pulled in by in-game upgrades and purchases (it’s so easy to spend $0.99 more to get that edge). Others surprised us; only 84% of tablet owners play games? We thought the whole purpose of the tablet movement was to disguise how much people wanted to goof off with a touch screen computer?

You know, it wouldn’t even bother us if it didn’t look so amazing. But alas, the Eee Slider from ASUS is easily one of the most anticipated Honeycomb tablets around, and our unending love for the since-departed HTC Advantage ensures that the flame for this guy will keep burning, too. Just a few weeks after hearing from ASUS’ UK branch that the Slider was being delayed until ‘autumn,’ in flies word from The Netherlands that we may be able to fix our gaze on September. Based on reports from Tablets Magazine, the 16GB model will be canned altogether in favor of a lone 32 gigger, which should sell for €499 across the pond. As for the 3G-enabled variant? We aren't apt to see that surface until Q1 2012. It's tough to pinpoint the reason for the holdup, but our guess is software — earlier in the week, a hands-on video emerged showcasing the Slider with Android 3.1, paying particular attention to the newfound USB accessory support. Have a gander at the video just past the break, and feel free to console one another in comments.
Update: Seems that ASUS’ Polish arm thinks that the 16GB model may ship in that corner of the world. Hmm… maybe these folks should start talking to one another.

Roberto Alomar was the first man elected to the Hall of Fame as a Blue Jay and he was in Toronto Sunday as the team honoured the former second baseman during a ceremony by retiring his No. 12 jersey.
It’s been anticipated for months that the Wi-Fi version of the HTC Flyer will be available to Canadians, but we can finally say this tablet is actually coming really soon. We’re still waiting on hearing what the official launch date is but HTC’s first Android tablet will hit retail locations across Canada for $499.99 outright. From what we understand the Flyer will come with OS 2.3.3 Gingerbread, have a 7-inch display, 1.5 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video calling. No word yet on the complete distribution but most likely it’ll be at all the usual retail outlets and big box stores.
