Samsung confirms Galaxy Note 2 will be introduced August 29th

Yesterday Samsung announced that their “Unpacked” event will be on August 29th at the upcoming IFA conference in Berlin, stating something “magical” is coming. Rumours were that the Galaxy Note 2 will be unveiled. In a Reuters report this morning an unknown Samsung spokesman has confirmed that “We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29.”
This all but confirms the news of the Galaxy Note 2, the next iteration phone/tablet that created “n…

Google postponing Nexus Q launch to 'make it better'

Apparently Google's strange little media streamer isn't quite ready for prime time — not according to the company that made it, at least. The software giant has begun sending out a note to pre-orderers letting them know that the launch of the sphere has been delayed in order to "work on making it even better." The company adds that it's responding to user feedback from previewers who want it to "do even more than it does today." To show that there are no hard feelings, the company will be "e…

China sending a probe to the moon next year to look for Moonbase Alpha

State news agency Xinhua is reporting that China is planning to launch a probe to the moon in the second half of 2013. The Chang'e-3, named after the Chinese moon goddess, will deposit a lander and rover on our natural satellite to survey its bumpy surface. It'll launch from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province and is a sign of the continuing ambition of the nation's space program — after it deposited a crew on its Tiangong-1 space station two months ago. Microsoft launches Outlook.com, a new email service with limited ads, unlimited storage and built-in Skype

So Microsoft launched a new email service today — not a redesigned version of Hotmail, but a completely new, built-from-the-ground-up service. It's called Outlook.com, and for now, at least, it will exist separately from Hotmail, as Microsoft attempts to distance itself from Hotmail's bad rap. As it happens, the email features are basically the same across the two services, but from a visual standpoint, Outlook.com is everything Hotmail is not: where Hotmail has distracting banners and video…

Samsung’s designs from 2006 were similar to the iPhone but well before Apple released it

Samsung and Apple are going head to head this week and we’ve shown you trial briefs from both companies (Samsung / Apple). The bottomline in this case is that Apple feels Samsung copied them. The bottomline to me is that it’s really a joke that they are spending all this money to “fight over rectangles” as quoted by Samsung’s Chief Product Officer Kevin Packingham.
Furthermore, Samsung will show the court the designs above, which were possibilities for the Summer of 2006, well before the iPho…

Microsoft Surface tablet to be released with Windows 8 on October 26th

Microsoft will release the long-awaited (and still heavily-questioned) Surface Tablet on October 26th alongside its Windows 8 operating system.
This information was gleaned from the company’s recent filing with the SEC. The initial batch of tablets will include the ARM-based RT version only; the Intel-powered (and likely more expensive) version will come in early 2013.
Windows 8 will be closely-watched not only for its financial viability, but for its ability to change the way that the vast m…

Taj, a 370lb Golden Bengal Tiger bows its head and placed a paw up to the hand of a small girl

Photographer Dyrk Daniels says:  "I noticed this little girl was leaning against the glass with both hands out stretched staring at the 'big kitties'. I could not believe my eyes when Taj approached the girl, bowed his head and then placed his huge right paw exactly in front of where the little girl's left hand was. It was incredible to watch. Taj let down his right paw, rubbed his cheek against the glass where the little girl's face was and moved off." Far from being scared, the little girl was so excited that she started clapping as she walked back towards her mother.
