There was a terrifying scene in San Miguel, Chile last night when a fire truck drove through the twirling blades of a police helicopter. The collision caused the helicopter to spin wildly out of control until it eventually exploded in a ball of flame.
Statistics Canada says the country’s homicide rate fell last year to 1.44 victims for every 100,000 people, its lowest level since 1966. And the number of firearms-related homicides also fell, to the lowest level since statstics have been kept.
I’ve seen countless science fiction movies and documentaries about the future of humanity. Nothing I’ve ever seen is as inspiring and beautiful and realistic as this extraordinary short film by Erik Wernquist, narrated by Carl Sagan. Watch it and get ready for goosebumps.

I basically live in Google’s Chrome web browser. It’s a decision I made to save my sanity when it became part of my job to change laptops every few weeks. No need to back up files that way! But it made me wonder how well I could live with only Chrome–if I could replace my laptop with a Chromebook instead.
Recently, Google launched a new music service called YouTube Music Key. But wait, doesn’t Google already have a music service? Well, yes. And Music Key makes it better.
