The 16GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Wi-Fi has hit Canadian land and is ready for sale. This new Android tablet quietly launched on Friday at a couple retailers, from what we understand both The Source and Staples have this in stock. Big box stores like Best Buy and Future Shop will apparently have this available on August 26th. In addition, TELUS, Bell and Rogers will all be releasing the 4G version soon, rumours are within a couple weeks.
The Tab 10.1 comes with Android OS 3.1 with TouchWIZ, 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800, 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 2 megapixel front-facing camera with a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera. We reviewed this tablet a few weeks ago and you can check it out here. This model is nothing like the previous 7-inch Tab that Samsung released, it has a better design, faster processor, thinner at 8.6mm and only weighs 565 grams. The price is $499.99 outright.

Hot on the heels of releasing its new device arsenal, RIM is prepping to roll out a brand spanking new BlackBerry App World. Scheduled to launch Monday, version 3.0 features a retooled interface for quick perusal of apps, games and themes — if the beta release is any indication. Another added feature is the My World storage folder that keeps all of your downloads on the home screen and lets you wirelessly reinstall them should you accidentally delete one or upgrade devices. Sure, there are rumblings that the BB music service will be a part of this release, but as Reuters reported, that announcement isn’t expected until early September. Although, this update would complete the new smartphone trifecta rather nicely: new device, new OS and new app store. Well done, RIM, now if you could just get your advertising in order, you’ll be all set.

Windows – If you’ve just bought a new laptop or pre-built desktop running Windows it’s more than likely you do not have a disc with the operating system. You may have a restore disc or hard drive partition that will restore your computer to factory settings, but having an actual disc to install Windows is good to have if you need to reinstall just your operating system. The BlackBerry App World 3.0 went into beta back on August 5th, but August 22nd is a day that the 50 million+ BlackBerry users will want to mark down. This coming Monday is the date that RIM is intending to push out the final version to the masses. According to N4BB they received word via email that “Please be advised that App World 3.0 is scheduled to release on August 22″. The new features of App World 3.0 are based on a complete redesign, more intuitive layout with a storefront search bar, integration with social networks and the ability to share app details within BBM, Facebook and Twitter.
RIM stated the following list of new product features with App World 3.0: “It all starts right on the home screen of BlackBerry App World, where rotating banners show off all that’s new and exciting. Keep tabs on your apps, with My World When you download an app, it’s stored digitally in your own personal storage folder called My World. So if you delete an app accidentally or upgrade to a new BlackBerry smartphone, you can wirelessly re-install the apps you’ve bought at no additional costs. Log in to the BlackBerry App World storefront with your BlackBerry ID When you download an app, it’s stored digitally in your own personal storage folder called My World. Search for and buy apps in more ways In addition to PayPal™, you can pay for apps using credit cards—including Visa®, MasterCard®, and American Express®—or charge them straight to your wireless bill. Scan app barcodes Any time you come across a barcode associated with a BlackBerry® app you’re interested in, just scan it, and BlackBerry® App World™ storefront will find it for you.”

We haven’t had a chance to head on down to The Hague to have a look-see for ourselves, but Dutch tech site Webwereld spotted some more inconsistencies in Apple’s Samsung lawsuit filings. This time the culprit is a shrunken Galaxy S, standing side-by-side with an identically tall iPhone 3G — when in reality the Samsung phone is seven millimeters taller than its Apple counterpart, and slightly wider as well. The image, filed in the Netherlands, is part of an intellectual property suit against Samsung, and came to light just days after accusations that Apple manipulated photos of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that it submitted to a German court. While misleading, this latest error isn’t nearly as concerning as last week’s shrunken Tab — which could easily be described as image manipulation, considering that the tablet included in that filing represented an incorrect 4:3 aspect ratio, while the Samsung device has a 16:10 display.
Update: The phone pictured above is the Samsung Galaxy S, not the Galaxy S II.
[Thanks, Florian]

Hangout video sharing is one of Google+’s more appealing features — not that we use it often, but when it comes to things to do in an online social gathering, watching YouTube clips would certainly rank near the top. Now you can launch Hangouts directly from YouTube, rather than heading over to Google+ and pasting in a link. Sure, it’s a simple tweak that probably took less than an hour to code, but it’s a clever addition nonetheless.
