Watch as +Sascha Pallenberg talks about the history of tablets, you can see how Apple copied others. One of my favorite videos, if you have time it's a must watch. #boycottapple

Google retiring iGoogle, Google Mini, others for 'spring cleaning'
To everything (Turn, Turn, Turn). There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn). Sometimes those seasons can get a bit convoluted, however — or such is the premise of Google's "Spring cleaning in summer" post, outlining the end of a handful of tech offerings. Because heck, even a company as big as Google has to pick its battles. On the chopping block this time out are the Google Mini enterprise search system, the Google Talk Chatback widget, Google Video, iGoogle and the Symbian search app. Of course…

Higgs boson just may, possibly, more or less be proven to exist by ATLAS and CMS teams
We had a false alarm over the possible discovery of the theory-unifying Higgs boson last year, but a bit of poking and prodding in subsequent months may well have given us much more definitive evidence of the elusive particle. According to some rare rumors emerging from Nature, both CERN's ATLAS and CMS detectors have seen particle decay signals suggesting the existence of Higgs to within a 4.5 to 5 sigma level of proof — in other words, very nearly concrete evidence. That's not quite the 5-…

Windows 8 Will Be a $39.99 Upgrade for XP and Above [In Brief]

VLC for Android Beta Finally Arrives, Plays Almost Anything on Your Android Device [Video]
Android: If you've been waiting for news on an Android version of VLC, wait no longer. The media player finally launched an Android beta today, and it brings VLC's trademark play-anything goodness, multi-track subtitle support, and even whole-library management tools to Android devices, but be warned: the developers make no bones about the fact that it's a beta, and there's a lot of work to be done on it. Beautiful! #CanadaDay
Reshared post from +Don Komarechka
It is with tremendous patriotism that I post this image on Canada Day, while traveling abroad in Istanbul.
I love Canada and this image embodies that; red maple leaves on a bed of freshly fallen snow. The image was technically challenging to take, as the leaves needed to be preserved in order to have them bright red during the winter. Then I needed the perfect winter day with fresh snow, no wind, and sunshine. That day came on January 11, 2009.
If you love Canada, please share this image. I'd love for it inspire Canadians around the world to get out there and enjoy our great country or simply take great pictures while thinking of home. That is exactly what I have been doing today 🙂
This image is still my favourite in my portfolio. Happy Canada Day everyone!

Liveness Check added to Jelly Bean Face Unlock security feature
We all remember how cool the new Face Unlock feature was for Android 4.o Ice Cream Sandwich when it was announced a while back. Today it’s still a nifty trick to show off to your iPhone buddies or at parties, but we all know that it’s far from foolproof. The fact that one could just simply use a still photo of the phone owner to access all their content was a little disappointing and relegated this security feature to basic social entertainment.
Well Google listened to the constructive critic…
